Big Values | 2020
The sculpture is based on a list of 200 human values
Big Values – values drive behaviors, behaviors cultivate culture, and culture creates engagement.
This sculpture roots back to my practical work and a deep reflection on how values serve as the guiding principles shaping our lives, our work, and our engagement with the world. They inspire us to pursue purpose, respect others, and learn from experience—while simultaneously revealing the gaps and challenges we face within ourselves and society. The sculpture 'Big Values' is an artwork reflecting on the values that ground us, as well as those that do not, forming a visual representation of a personal value system.
As a pivotal piece in my portfolio, ‘Big Values’ explores the intricate role of values in human behavior. It consists of 70 spheres, each meticulously engraved with a value on either side. This sculpture marked the inception of an artistic process that eventually evolved into the broader art experiment #ValueMatters | an art experiment, where 27 participants mapped out their own essential and secondary values. Ultimately, the work invites viewers to question their own core beliefs and reflect on how they shape daily actions, interactions, and our collective social consensus.
