Big Values (Personal Values) | 2020
Values drive behaviors, behaviors cultivate culture, and culture creates engagement.
This sculpture stems from a deep reflection on how values serve as guiding principles—shaping my life, my creative process, and my engagement with the world. They inspire me to pursue my passion and to respect others, yet they also reveal the internal frictions and challenges I face. The sculpture 'Big Values' is a phygital manifestation of these reflections; it is a visual and tactile representation of my personal value system, highlighting the ones that matter and acknowledging the ones that do not.
As a key work in my portfolio, 'Big Values' explores the foundational role of values in human behavior. The structure consists of exactly 70 spheres, each precisely engraved with two contrasting values, one on each side. By inviting the viewer to physically interact with these spheres, the sculpture challenges them to question their own values and how these choices affect their actions, interactions, and ultimately, our social consensus.
This interactive piece also served as the catalyst for an extensive artistic process resulting in the art experiment #valuesmatters, where 27 individuals shared their most and least important values.
Big Values is based on a curated list of 200 values.
