7th International André Evard Prize for Concrete-Constructive Art 30.11.2024 – 23.02.2025
New Paths in Concrete-Constructive Art
For the 7th time, the Kunsthalle Messmer in Riegel is awarding the International André Evard Prize for Concrete-Constructive Art. This year, about 500 artists from 23 countries applied, and around 100 of them were nominated. The accompanying exhibition to the prize showcases their works and documents that this geometric-abstract art form continues to operate at the highest level and has remained young and vibrant through exciting reinterpretations.
With 10,000 euros, the International André Evard Prize is one of the most important awards for concrete-constructive art and will again attract art enthusiasts from all over the world to Riegel this year. The three prize winners will be determined by a high-profile jury during the course of the exhibition. This jury consists of collector and museum founder Marli Hoppe-Ritter, gallery owner and initiator of Art Karlsruhe Ewald Schrade, and former head of the art collection of Deutsche Bank, Dr. Christina Schroeter-Herrel. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to vote for the winner of the audience award.
The prize is dedicated to one of the forefathers of concrete-constructive art. Starting in 1913, the Swiss artist André Evard (1876-1972) explored geometric abstractions in his paintings. He is thus one of the pioneers of this style in Switzerland. Evard's works form the heart of the Kunsthalle Messmer collection.
