The tryptic ‘Entire Half’ is a set of three artworks that are related to each other and form a coherent whole. I have chosen this format to represent the three stages of the process of change – from emptiness over confusion and confidence. The tryptic ‘Entire Half’ consists of three 3D printed sculptures (50x50cm):
- Entire Half (Awareness) –emptiness and its potential for something new
- Entire Half (Confusion) – letting go before we create something new
- Entire Half (Growth) – confidence, silence and following a growth mindset
- A fourth sculpture Entire Half (Vision) pictures our inner vision we all have. The sculpture is slightly bigger (60cm x 60 cm)
Entire half is at display at KPM3: Entire Half - exhibited at KPM3
Entire Half (Awareness)
The sculpture is inspired by the idea of duality and Emptiness. Duality is the state of having two aspects or qualities that are often opposed or contrasted – the characteristic of human nature, where we have both positive and negative aspects that make us who we are. Emptiness is the state of being without content or substance. Emptiness is not nothingness, but rather a potential for something new. The artist says that emptiness is the space that allows us to create, to think, to feel, and to transform.
Entire Half (Confusion)
Whether we get aware on the need for change or our lives are impacted from outside, we often find ourselves in the middle of confusion. The state of confusion is where we often need first to let go things and endorse the new path we want to trace out in our lives. Emptiness – the space to create something new and Duality – considering our strength and weaknesses, which helps us to get back on track.
Entire Half (Growth)
Once we have overcome the confusion and turmoil, we can find back our confidence and look ahead. We can work to further grow our strength and by doing so, we also will work on our weakness. Having a positive view on ourselves, seize the opportunities and stay bold on what you do and what your passion is about – continuously improve and learn for life having a growth mindset.
Entire Half (Vision)
Nothing is perfect, except our imagination. Having a vision or a plan for the future helps us grow personally. It all starts with self-reflection on who, what, and why we are. Having a north star in mind, we walk towards it step by step. We seize the opportunities and stay bold in what we do and love. We keep improving and learning for life. We find our own way and pace.
The triptych in essence
The triptych and the fourth sculpture are a reflection of my own personal journey of embracing change and growth. I explore the themes of emptiness, duality, confusion, confidence, and vision. The sculpture uses 3D printing as a medium to create geometric shapes that represent different states of mind and emotions.
The triptych shows the three stages of the process of change, from feeling empty and lost, to facing the challenges and uncertainties, to finding the new direction and purpose. The fourth sculpture shows the inner vision that guides the artist through the change and inspires me to keep learning and growing. The artworks are a visual expression of my philosophy and passion.
